An island home ... close to downtown Salvador

This home is located in a closed and gated condominium on the most exclusive beach of Itaparica island,
just a few miles from Salvador - some 20-25 minutes by boat.
This beach - Praia da Penha - an exclusive beach where the local rich of Salvador have their holiday homes in private condominiums.
The beach is protected by rocky reefs on either side which make it a great anchoring point for yachts that come from the Bahia Marina in downtown Salvador.
These reefs create natural "pools" at high tide, where one can sit as if it were a natural jacuzzi
and observe the fish as they swim around you. They also create a kaleidoscope of different tints of blue green water, and make for a safe haven for a yacht.
At low tide, however, the reefs show up as dark, rough rocks - a turn off for some, a great feature for others.
The island of Itaparica has always been the favorite holiday place for the Salvador people
(a large public ferry brings them to Itaparica in 50').
As a result, the infrastructure is good, although most beaches are occupied with smaller middle class weekend homes and beach bars.
Penha beach, is the exception to this - and provides island living while by boat it is hardly 20 minutes from downtown Salvador.
As a result, it is a great basis for sailors who want to sail around the bay and the islands of the "Bay of all Saints" or to the well known islands of
Morro de Sao Paulo and Boipeba.
Although the interior decoration of the house is dated, the overall construction quality is good.
Also the layout of the house is very modern and spacious - with very large rooms - something very hard to find in Brazil, and a number of surprisingly modern features. It has always been the favourite weekend hang-out of a lot of Bahia's society.
