Itacare and Ilheustip: if you like Itacare, you may also like Angra, Paraty, Garopaba or PipaItacaré is an old fishermen's village blessed with some 30km of unusually beautiful beaches that are popular with eco-tourists as well as surfers. Lush green hills stretch all the way to the beaches, often little protected coves with great waves for surfing that feel like Hawaii. Itacaré attracts two, very different crowds. The pioneers were the hippies, backpackers and surfers, that now dominate the city centre. Apart from them, the rich hide out in a few high-end resorts and hotels between Itacaré and Serra Grande. As most of the 35km stretch between Itacaré and Serra Grande owned by a handful of land owners, and the area is highly protected by the environmental authorities, investments here are only interesting for very high end developers and hotel operators. Several projects of this kind are already under way, and we have excellent contacts with the owners of these projects. For smaller projects, other beaches more to the south provide good alternatives nearby; with flatter stretches of white, sandy beaches lined with coconut trees.
