The "Serra do Tabuleiro" national mountain park covers a very large area of mountains ànd beaches, stretching from the south tip of Florianopolis all the way down to beyond Garopaba, and including the mountains behind them - as well as several of the islands in front of it. In the north, it includes a few villages with thermal springs as well as white water rivers, like Aguas Mornas and Caldas da Imperatriz. The beauty of this countryside, only 30 to 50 minutes from Florianopolis, have made the area a favourite for locals who have a little weekend refuge in the mountains. Horseriding, delta gliding, white water rafting, rappel... all kinds of sports are possible in this beautiful mountain area. And hiking through the mountains, of course, with peaks between 1200 and 1600m above the sea. On top of that, the unspoilt beaches that are part of the park - like Gamboa and Siriu, are popular with surfers and sun worshipers alike. Beaches, mountains, islands, rivers, lakes... the area around Florianopolis seems especially made for mankind to enjoy it.
